Mastering Stats, Items, and the Chaos of ARAM: MAYHEM
01
Introduction & ARAM Mindset
Welcome to League of Legends! Unlike classic Summoner's Rift (5v5 across 3 lanes with a jungle), ARAM (All Random All Mid) takes place on the Howling Abyss: a single icy lane, 10 champions fighting constantly in one spot, and non-stop teamfighting action!
The 4 Golden Rules of ARAM:
No Recall (No Back): You cannot return to fountain to regenerate health. You must die to buy items!
Shop Only Upon Death: Once you leave the spawning platform at the start, the shop closes. To spend your gold, you have to die.
Hexgates & Relics: Use the Hexgates near your Nexus to jump straight into combat. Health relics line the edges of the bridge to heal you and your team.
Snowball (Mark / Dash) Summoner Spell: Throw a snowball! If it hits an enemy, reactivate it to dash directly onto them. Essential tool for Melee Fighters and Tanks!
๐ก Beginner Strategist Tip
Don't sit on 4,000 gold trying to survive at 50 HP! If your wave is pushed and your allies are nearby, executing or dying cleanly is often the best decision so you can return 15 seconds later with 2 completed items and stomp the enemy team.
02
AD vs AP & Damage Types
In League of Legends, damage and scaling fall into two main families: Attack Damage (AD) and Ability Power (AP).
๐ก๏ธ AD (Attack Damage / Physical Damage)
Text Color: Orange / Red
What is it? Increases the damage of your basic attacks (right-click) and physical abilities.
Look at the color of the numbers inside an ability description when hovering your cursor:
Orange Numbers (+AD): Scales higher when buying AD items (Swords, Lethality, Crit).
Green/Blue Numbers (+AP): Scales higher when buying AP items (Staves, Amplifying Tome).
Yellow/Dark Green Numbers (+Armor/HP): Certain tanks (Malphite, Rammus) scale their damage directly off Health or Armor!
The 3 Damage Types:
Damage Type
On-Screen Color
Mitigation & Penetration
Physical Damage
Orange
Reduced by target's Armor. Penetrated by Lethality & % Armor Pen.
Magic Damage
Blue / Purple
Reduced by target's Magic Resist (MR). Penetrated by Magic Penetration.
True Damage
White / Yellow
IGNORES ALL ARMOR & MR! Deals the exact raw damage indicated (e.g. Darius Ultimate, Vayne W).

Complete Stat Glossary
Here is a straightforward explanation of every other stat found on items:
1. Attack Speed & Critical Strike (Offensive AD)
Attack Speed: Increases basic attacks per second (e.g. 1.5 = 1.5 attacks/sec).
Critical Strike Chance (Crit): Percentage chance for a basic attack to deal massive bonus damage (+75% to +100%). Capped at 100%.
2. Ability Haste (AH / CDR)
Ability Haste reduces your ability cooldowns, allowing you to cast spells much more frequently!
3. Armor Penetration & Magic Penetration
When enemies buy defensive stats (Armor or MR), your damage drops. Penetration stats ignore that defense:
Lethality (Flat Armor Pen): Subtracts a FLAT amount of Armor. Best against squishy targets without armor items.
% Armor Penetration (e.g. Lord Dominik's Regards): Ignores a PERCENTAGE of total Armor. Essential against heavy Tanks!
Magic Penetration (Flat / % MPen): Same concept but for reducing Magic Resist when playing AP Mages.
4. Sustain: Life Steal, Physical Vamp & Omnivamp
Stat Name
How It Heals You
Life Steal
Heals you exclusively from physical basic attacks.
Physical Vamp
Heals you from ALL physical damage (basic attacks + physical abilities).
Omnivamp
Heals you from ALL damage dealt (Physical, Magic, True Damage). (Reduced to 33% efficiency on area-of-effect / AoE damage).
โ ๏ธ Anti-Healing Effect: Grievous Wounds
If the enemy team has high-healing champions (Aatrox, Warwick, Yuumi, Soraka, Volibear), you MUST buy an item with Grievous Wounds. This debuff reduces all incoming healing and health regen on the target by 40%!
Anti-heal items: Executioner's Calling (AD), Oblivion Orb (AP), Bramble Vest / Thornmail (Tank).
04
Item Anatomy: Passives vs Actives
Every completed item grants raw numerical stats, but more importantly, unique item effects.
Item Passives vs Active Abilities:
Item Passive (Automatic): Works automatically in the background as long as you own the item. E.g.: "Burn enemies for magic damage when landing a spell" (Liandry's) or "Gain a lifeline shield when dropped below 30% HP" (Sterak's Gage / Shieldbow).
Item Active (Manual Hotkey!): The item is placed in an inventory slot (1 to 6). You MUST press the hotkey to trigger the effect! E.g.: Zhonya's Hourglass (Become invulnerable in stasis for 2.5s) or Hextech Rocketbelt (Dash forward releasing rockets).
โ ๏ธ Watch Out for Named Passives (Unique Passives)
If two items share a passive with the EXACT SAME NAME (such as Lifeline or Spellblade), their effects DO NOT stack! You will only get the effect once. Always check passive names.
05
Status Effects & Crowd Control (CC)
Crowd Control (CC) includes all status effects and debuffs that hinder enemy movement or actions.
Main CC Effects Breakdown:
CC Name
Can Move?
Can Cast / Attack?
Key Details
Stun
โ Blocked
โ Blocked
Hard CC. Target is completely incapacitated and unable to act.
Root / Snare
โ Blocked
โ Allowed!
Prevents walking or dashing, but target CAN still attack and cast spells!
Silence
โ Allowed
โ Spells Blocked
Prevents casting abilities. Target can still walk and basic attack.
Knockup (Airborne)
โ Blocked
โ Blocked
THE KING OF CC! Target is knocked into the air. Cannot be reduced by Tenacity or cleansed by Cleanse/QSS!
Suppression
โ Blocked
โ Blocked
(e.g. Malzahar, Warwick Ultimates). Cannot be cleansed by Cleanse spell. Requires Quicksilver Sash (QSS).
Blind
โ Allowed
Attacks Miss
(e.g. Teemo Q). Basic attacks miss completely and deal 0 damage for the duration.
What is Tenacity?
Tenacity is a defensive stat that reduces the DURATION of Stuns, Roots, Silences, and Slows! If you have 30% Tenacity, a 2-second Stun will only last 1.4 seconds. (Note: Does NOT reduce Airborne/Knockup or Suppression duration).

Special ARAM: MAYHEM (Augments & Chaos)
ARAM: MAYHEM takes ARAM madness to the next level by introducing the Augment System!
1. Augment Tiers
Throughout the match, you get to select from 3 random Augment cards. They come in 3 tiers of power:
Silver Tier: Solid stat boosts, ability haste, movement speed, or utility.
In ARAM: Mayhem, you can also acquire Prismatic Items featuring over-the-top stats and amplified passive effects.
3. Pro Tips to Win in ARAM: MAYHEM:
Prioritize Synergy Over Rarity: A Gold or Silver Augment that perfectly fits your champion's kit is often much stronger than a random Prismatic Augment!
Adapt Your Item Build: If an Augment gives your basic attacks AP scaling, consider building Attack Speed + AP items!
Embrace Wild Combos: Don't stick strictly to traditional recommended builds. Mayhem is designed for testing chaotic and fun builds!
